Intermitant non starter

2003 Ford Fiesta 1.4 Durashift EST
Car: Ford Fiesta
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.4 Durashift EST
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Car starts sometimes and drives fine with all gears selecting ok, then wont start, fords have had it on computer and they gave a print out saying "clutch position sensor fault, reqs new tranmission control module and gear shift actuators. Clutch is also at maximum wear figure, strongly recomend clutch and slave cylinder changed also" they quoted a price of £2000 plus, i think this is abit harsh as the car drives fine when it does start so can't need all these parts replacing, is the clutch on a durashift the same as a normal manual clutch (regarding fitting) any info on this would help, Thanks

i suspect that fords are probably looking for work... i would pull the car from them, take it to another ford agent for a second opinion and also try a reputable independant... i would think a simple ecu re-flash would propably do the trick...
