2006 Ford Fiesta tapping from engine

I have a tapping from my engine which disappears when the engine is warm,Funny thing is that it does not happen everytime that i start the engine from cold!..probably 1 in 5 times that i start it from cold it does it...Anyone got any ideas what it may be?

sounds like the oil isn`t getting to top of engine. Try an oil and filter change and make sure you use the correct grade and GOOD quality.

check injector seals

i agree with above comment getting loads of these with cylinder pressure blowing past fuel injector seals which gives you the sound like a tapping noise if you look at injectors around base you can usually see the build up of soot etc where it is not sealing
