Not taking water

I was stuck in traffic for an hour and my tempeture gauge went down so much i thought i shoud pll over to let it cool down. thing is the water hadnt come down one bit. i let it cool down for 20 min and then it was fine ive checked for any leaks and blocks but there arent any. Any ideas???

try running the engine till gauge reads about 3/4 check the rad fan cuts in dont let it go into the red if it gets near have fan sensor replaced you prob saved the engine bt turning off on time
