1997 Ford Fiesta gears bang when selected

engine starts fine, idles fine when select a gear drive or reverse if cold will bang into gear then the idle picks up and wants to drive of have to hold on foot brake,some times stalling due to high revs any idea's ?

First thing to check would be ATF level .

I have changed the idle control valve and the accelerator module,this was advised by Ford main dealer so I have changed them, and now it only stalls when put into gear when cold, also it seams to be using allot of fuel but this could be my imagination any ideas
