ABS LIGHT ON

hi can anyone help my abs has recently came on for no reason and the handbrake light and they wont go out, i took to garage and they dont seem to think anything is wrong with the breaks another garage said it could be the ecu unit? anyone no how much that will cost or if it could be anything elae?

Your ABS is nothing to do with the ECU it's brakes for goodness sake your ABS is controlled by sensors set into the hubs if you were to look under the car with a torch you would see a circle with what looks like square teeth and skimming barely a mm from them is the ABS sensor attached from that sensor is a wire and truthfully they do break and then its a sensor replacement. What kind of garages do you have up there that canna help a lassie.Hildiago69

there is a diagnostic socket that connects to your ecu and will determine what problem is causing you abs light to show fault usualy wheel pickup sensor or even a loose rear wheel bearing will cause light to come on so you need to take to any garage that has a diagnostic com. cost about £30
