hiya fordie
there are several solutions to these problems.but unfortunately they can be expensive as these new breed of cars depend on electrically operated valves & without sophisticated computerised diagnostic equipment ( which us humble members don't posess )faults are harder to trace.
however try these suggestions first ( b4 u dig deep into your hard earned cash ). make sure you didn't dislodge any air intake trunking when removing / refitting battery. are there any multi plugs hanging loose that may have been dislodged ( mainly around air intake & inlet manifold area.finaly carefully disconnect/ reconnect multi plugs around this area, one at a time,by squeezing the metal clips with thumb & forefinger on either side of plug while pulling gently, they lock in automatically when you push them back on.reason for this they sometimes get dirty connection. best of luck mate, let me know how you get on regards dj dave.
