1989 Ford Escort recently begun stalling when slowing down for lights/junction.

Car: Ford Escort
Year: 1989
Variant: 1.6 mk4 xr3i
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When coming to a halt; idle drops, but can sometimes prevent stalling by revving engine. Most times it will start again, but on occassion, has only started after being jumped. The thick red lead recently snapped on alternator and car would not start until reconnected- only had problem since this time.

check the wire for any breaks and also make sure you have a good connection, check your battery is ok and there is no drain on battery and check alternator charge rate
