1996 Ford Escort dash lights and rear lights

the dashboard doesn't light up and also rear lights have gone, have changed bulbs and fuses but still not working, also always engine always cuts out on 1st use of the day, no matter how long i leave it to warm up, i get a few yards down the road then it cuts out.

the escorts do suffer with losing there earth points in the body and fuse box problems but check all the earths the you can see these are the brown wires undo them and clean them up with sand paper and replace with a little grease
