when i put the ignition on all my dials goes to full the back, the trip comp resets itself also the battery seems a bit flat, and when i have no key in the ignition the clock moves about 4mins every 30 secs

Is the engine turning over ? you say " battery a bit flat ".

Looks as if the dials etc . are doing a re-boot self test which can be caused if voltage drops .This would confirm your suspicion of battery being low . Either charge , test or replace battery .

i think i might have found the problem, the clip on the distriptor has a lot of Corrosion on it and is broken, and thanks for your comments
