1985 Ford Escort very bad in the wet. major engine splutter and stop!

Car: Ford Escort
Year: 1985
Variant: L
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Sorry already put this on forum, new to this hadnt seen this.
Apologies...
Genuine near 48K mileage, very clean car, but always a problem driving, or starting the her in the rain. Sometime though rarely cured by foot on clutch and pump accelerator flat to floor, until she coughs clear. Though sometimes/often this wont cure it and shell die.
I use WD40, but no difference.
Grateful for any advice
Thanks
Mik

Basic things I would suggest to check first would be the plugs , plug leads and distributor cap . Dirt , dampness on any of those parts can cause spark to track . Other possible causes , but those are the "usual suspects " for your prob . Hope this helps , get back to board if needing more help .
