1989 Ford Escort fuel pump fuse keeps blowing

fuel pump fuse keeps popping, every few yards when hot, but will not pop when stationed and reved up.

i would say trace the wire from the fuse box all the way back to the pump as it may be earthing out causing the fuse to blow also make sure you are putting the right size fuse back in so if you do have a manual for the car check in there of the fuse rating required just to be safe
