While driving My Escort Encore 1.4, I get a severe burning smell.
It smells like rubber, but it could be the clutch.
When I get out, there is quite a bit of heat from under the car especially from the rear.
Can anyone please shed any light on what the problem can be?

It turned out that it was the clutch, that was burning away. The thing has now completely failed!!! Thanks anyway!
