1997 Ford Escort non charging battery

here is a strange one , have 97 escort, changed alternator, belt, had car tested by local car tester victor barry, no probs with elec system, why oh why weont the bloody thing charge, tried diff batteries, battery light stays on, temp gauge goes straight to hot, when ignition turned on, i nand local s am baffled, car has auto tension wich seems to be working, hhhhhhhhhhelp

Normally if gauge goes straight to hot the wire to temp sensor is earthed some where or off and touching .Did you have alternator tested before fitting ? Have you tested the output with meter ?

do you have poor or broken connections where the alternator wiring joins to the starter motor main terminal

surely either of these would of been picked up by the test mschine, thanks for the input, any more please send, alun, willm try anything, gonna recconect the leads to the alt again, and refresh the tension roller

Sounds like a faulty alternator
