2002 Fiat Stilo brake light

I have a problem with the drivers side brake light not working, It is probably my fault as I linked into it for the towbar,the display now says brake light out and Its right, There is no power to the lamp. I assume the lamp is driven from a module somewhere but what it is, and where is my problem, I hope someone can help. I have used the trailor for about 8 years with no probs but all good things must come to an end. Thanks Jez
