2002 Fiat Stilo asr failure

Year: 2002
Variant: 1.6 dynamic

At least once every journey, the car alarm will sound and "ASR FAILURE" will appear on the Control panel readout at the same time the engine will stop.
A bit dodgey on a busy road!
The car will then restart ok to continue the journey.
I have had the local garage put their diagnostic tester in and the ABS system is ok with no other faults found elswhere.
I have cleaned the ABS sensors,the ABS main connector, checked the brake switch and many other items with a tenuous link to the electrics to no avail.

have you checked the basics like brake fluid level and amount of material left on pads?are the reluctor rings ok if fitted on your car as these can crack or get shitted up and cause problems

Reluctor rings? Where on the wheels would I find them?
I have previously removed the wheels and the brake disk pads look ok.

if the car has reluctor rings fitte they will be on the out cv joints on the front wheels and behind the hub on the rear wheels,

I have removed each ABS sensor in turn and inserted a clean paint brush whilst rotating the wheel, hopefully to clean the reluctor ring in frint of the sensor.
Unfortunately the ASR problem remains the same.
Anyone have any ideas?
