Battery running down too quickly

2004 Fiat Stilo 1.4 5-door active
Car: Fiat Stilo
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.4 5-door active
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When not started for 12 hours or less the car is very sluggish to turn the engine over. I've noticed that on starting all 3 rear brake lights are on with only the handbrake engaged. I've just had a brand new battery put in and within a couple of weeks its touch and go whether the car will turn over and start. Once started, the car runs fine and as long as I don't leave it for any length of time its ok. I'm never confident if I have to go anywhere though that it will start. Is this normal? and is the fact that the rear brake lights only go off when the car is not turned on enough to run the battery down?

There must be something causing a drain on the system, your car should easily sit for two week,s and still start ok.you can physically check yourself that interior light,s go out when locked glovebox, boot, etc.brake light,s should be off unless switch is sticking .any further check,s require to be done by garage/ mechanic, leakage to earth, volt drop etc.

As above plus get the alternator output tested and check all earths , especially from eng/ gearbox to body .
