Noisy gearbox but not all the time

hi ive got a noisy gearbox but only when u take foot off accelerator...ive changed the end cap as it was cracked and theers 3 bolts that hold the gears on one was missing and other 2 were loose,, could it be because of them

Yes .Probably gearbox / layshaft bearings at least knackered .Best bet on that year of car is to get a box from scrapyard to save expense .

yes think that will have caused damage to gearbox as above best option to source and fit a second hand gearbox
