My wife's car has recently developed a fault. On a couple of occasions recently the car has just cut out on her and the engine management light on the dash has come on. Two days ago it cut out three times in the space of a couple of hundred yards. I drove over to where she'd broken down and started the car. The warning light went off and I drove the car, without any problem, to a friend's house. The time it happened prior to this, my friend, who is a mechanic, took the car onto the motorway and drove the car, at varying speeds, for about 35 miles without any fault showing up! Naturally, my wife says she has lost confidence in the car. Has anyone experienced this problem, or have any idea what the problem could be?

Hard to fix fault if you or your mechanic friend cant replicate it , especially after 35 miles .Could check coolant level in header tank .Have had the odd complaint of this fault happening when vehicle used on short trips only .

hi.just wondering if you solved this problem?my fiat brava is doing the exact same thing.when driving the car without coming to a stop the car dosnt stall it runs sweet.the engine management light is always on and it makes the fuel gauge read empty even though theres juice in the car.it seems to stall when coming to a stop at lights or a junction but it will fire straight back up.some days the car will run how it should without the engine management light on.ive had it on a diagnosis kit and it came up with a fault in the tick over switch so i changed it but still the car stalls.let me no if you solved the problem or if anyone has any sugestions.its a head banger :(.CHEERS
