Help - Fan belt screeching on Daewoo Matiz !?

Since we've had this cold, wet weather. My fan belt has really been screeching on my Daewoo Matiz. I know nothing about cars and this has really been worrying me, even though I've been told not to worry! Should I be concerned? I've only just spent £400 on it having a full service, (the car's not worth much more!) so don't really want to have to spend much more if I can help it. Obviously if it's dangerous, then I will have to get it sorted. Thanks for yor help!

Took it to the Chevrolet Garage. Cost £119 + VAT for service, which isn't too bad, but then they found another problem, so all in it cost me £400 - damn cars!!!

the answer that tells you too replace belt is correct pretty common for these too break belts and you will req 2 belts 1 for the power steering and one for the altenator. you should have been advised of this a service as when i worked in a daewoo dealers we advised replacement every 2 years suprised this wasnt done for £400. dont go to main delears find a recommended local garage in future usually find you get a better service and more value for money
