2004 Daewoo Lacetti losing power, check engine light on.

Car: Daewoo Lacetti
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.6 SE
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
ever since the car was about a year old the check engine light has been on. The SERE engineers said it was nothing to worry about at each service interval. For the last year the car has been losing power to the point it is dangerous to drive. i recently had it hooked to a computer and the only thing it says is 'multiple mis fires'. I had the leads, plugs and coil pack changed. Light stayed off for a day! It drove like new for a week, then the problem has come back. I've just spent £250 and really puzzled. grateful for any advice. Car only has 20000 miles on it.

Have been getting same problem. Originally engine check light came on and they diasgnosed the EGR valve as faulty, at a cost of £300+. This has been changed at least FOUR times and also taken out and cleaned. Now light started coming on with a series of flashes then solid. The computer states intermittant mis fires. Again they got me to change the Plugs and Leads, then the Coil etc. This didn't even last a day. Now they have said the next step would be to change all the valves at a cost of over £800. Again i don't do much mileage, 5 years old with 22,000miles. i gave the car a longer run last week over 40 miles. The next time I started the engine up the light was out and has been since then, almost a week. I may just need to give the car a long run once a week but better than forking out more money which may not fix the problem.
