wipers not working as they should - fix

I have recently had a problem with the Wipers on my Duster.
Any of the following were happening;
The wipers may be parked in front of the Drivers when you sit in,
Press the Screen wash and the wipers may continue to work,
The wipers may come on of their own accord and I could not switch them off,
It might take a few up presses on the wiper stalk to get them to park correctly,
Having seen an item on Youtube in relation to a Renault I decided to take out the Motor and Linkage. Relatively easy - 2 mouldings to take off Left and Right at the base of the Windscreen. Ensure the wipers are parked and mark their position on the Windscreen with masking tape before removing the Wiper Arms. Then remove the Plastic cover that runs along the base of the Windscreen and covers the Linkage. 3 Bolts holding the Linkage and Motor in position - once these are out it is easy to get the Motor / Linkage out - disconnect the wiring connector. If disconnecting the Linkage from the Motor - mark the position of it on the housing. It is obvious that rainwater from the Windscreen is running down over the Motor housing. On a bench - flip the Motor over and you will see the Black Plastic cover that is held on with clips - gently lever these out of position and remove the cover. In my case this cover which has 4 + 4 separate connections had a lot of gunk on it. I cleaned it off using a cloth / toothbrush / white spirit and did the same with the receiving side that has the toothed drive wheels on it. I gave the contacts a rub of a file just to brighten them up. It had been my intention to remove the Linkage and Motor cover as well but I failed to get them off. I put some Vaseline on the toothed wheels are put the Black cover back in position. Ensure the clips are back correctly. Installed the Motor and Linkage back in the Car - put the Panel in position across it and then the Wiper arms in position. Started the Car to test it - it gave the same issue as previously. I had decided o remove it again but decided to give it another try and this time it worked as it should i.e. correct Windscreen wash / intermittent / speed 1 / speed 2.
This was an easy fix - see the photos attached.
Just posting this as it may be helpful to someone with a similar issue.
