2001 Citroen Xsara misfire when hot

hi everyone , my xsara had a misfire at low revs when hot , its usually about 1-2 thousand revs , its also misfired a couple of times through all the revs and the engine managment light flashes , but if you turn the car off and wait 5 minutes and start it its back to normal??

A few possible causes , but common fault is ignition coil pack .Could also check plugs . A diagnostic scan will show faults if not that .

will the fault codes still be stored even though the engine managment lights doesnt stay on ??

They should be stored as intermittant faults.

a little update, i got the car on a code reader and it said it had a multiple misfire , i put a new set of spark plugs in it on saturday and it ran 100% all week until tonite coming home , i stoped on a hill and when i pulled away it started misfireing badly so i pulled over turned it off and its fine again
