2000 Citroen Xsara steering noise

hi hoping someone could advise me . i have an xsara and the steering makes a crecking noise when i turn mainly to the left,i have also been told the front suppention struts need changing could the two be related ??
any advise would be welcome

Might well be , get them to check front coil springs also .
