2001 Citroen Xsara engine coolant to hot

when car is first started engine coolant to hot fault light comes on and alarm goes off but once driven 5 miles it stops coolant isnt even hot why is it happening

prob an air lock bleed system first but dont take any chances get the engine too hot head gasget can blow

Could be faulty coolant sensor , giving wrong reading ? Especially if it's coming on right away and is not over heating .

coolant sensors are common for cracking and letting water into the wiring harness and creating electrical faults. best to let a mechanic look at it.
