Car starts fine in park but try selecting gear engine cuts out sometimes amber engine light comes one Citroen mechanic scanned 5 faults turned out none ot them , another garage engine amber light out showed no faults .

Check / clean/ replace MAF . If engine light on and scanned with Citroen diagnostics it should show what is triggering the light .

I have a spare xsara I will swap MAF over I have spine trouble hence having to use garages

I have an identical spare car but been relying on garages due to disablilty but I can get a friend to do the swap thanks.
