1999 Citroen Xsara intermittant rear wiper

During the 'hot' weather, rhe rear wiper does not work. It stutters, does not move and the number plate lights flicker. Before that happened, I have no '3rd' breaklight. Checked bulb unit but OK

Check for broken wires where they pass through into tail gate at top .

It was the cable harness to the 'back door'. 4 wires broken!
I realised that the tail gate lock was not working. Bit of a panic when I thought 'what could have been'.
