2001 Citroen Xsara Picasso not starting in morning

my picasso is a 51 plate diesel and over last few days has suffered from very hard starting after sitting for a long period of time - eg overnight or during the working day,glow plugs and low pressure fuel pump tested and seem to be in good working order.the problem is getting worse every day - taking longer and longer to start,cycling the ignition a few times seems to speed up the process.

Hi there. I've suffered same problem and in my case it's v.bad news. Apparent cause is water corrosion into the wiring loom and the engine computer (ECU). Being advised of an £1,800 repair bill, so looks like we are going to have to scrap the car, even though it is only 7 yrs old.
fyi, mine struggled to start when cold for 3 days, taking longer each day before firing up. It stopped working altogether on 5th day. The problem also caused the computer to throw up duff info (ie. coil needs changing) before it gave up the ghost altogether.
Cause of the corrosion is apparently water leaking from the pressurised temperature sensor, working its way up inside the wiring loom to the end of the wires where it meets the ECU. I'm trying to establish whether it is truthfully possible for this to happen, because I don't trust the place where my car is stuck right now.

i would have a leak off check carried out on injectors as you may be losing fuel pressure via one or more faulty injector
