2002 Citroen Xsara Picasso wiper blades

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.6
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
I have just been to the automotive spares shop to get some front wiper blades for my Xsara Picasso(2002).
They told me I need 2 x 26" blades for the front which I purchased & fitted.
The problem is as the wiper blades cross each other they slightly touch.
What I need to know is is, is ok that they touch & will this risk damaging the wiper blades & in turn damaging the windscreen, or do I need to change one of the blades for a slightly smaller one.
Thanks.

I think that the wipers would have be different lengths and not both the same size.

Thats what I thought but most places including the guides in halfords stores say 2 x 26" blades

Were the blades you took off the same size and did they touch ? As far as I can see , two 26" is what should be on car .They shouldn't touch , if so , could jam . Can you not adjust wiper arms ?

The wiper blades that came of were a 24" & a 22" blade which I presume were randomly put on by the previous owner.
I tried to adjust the wiper arm by flipping back the cap & removing the nut but couldn't remove the wiper arm.
