2000 Citroen Xsara Picasso rear door catch sticking

hi i have just got myself a 2000 picasso and love it ! one small problem though, the the rear door (boot) catch is 'sticky'. i unlock the car/press the button on the door to release the catch ( it seems to be making all the right noises) BUT it doesn't always pop open?! on occassion it has opened after one the kids closed the back door. does the mechanism just need lubricated? or is it something more sinister ?

Strip down and give linkage and solenoid / actuator a spray with WD40.
