Brake lights keep coming on

2003 Citroen Xsara Picasso 2000c auto

Can anyone help me on this problem. Everytime i go over a bump the brake lights go on and off. there is a little play in the brake pedal, is this an easy self fix or a garage job?
any help is appreciated

is the brake light switch adjustable in any way and does moving the pedal the small amount of play actually bring them on

hi,
thanks for the reply,yes if i move the brake pedal i can hear the switch/pedal making contact which flutters the brake lights on and off. can the switch be adjusted? to rectify this

Looks like " wiggy4170 " advice was correct and switch needs adjusting .Usually just a case of loosening lock nut/s and giving more clearance .

hi,
many thanks for the responses. I managed to fix it and it only took ten minutes. I had to pull out the brown stem slightly from the switch and now its all fine. Probably took me ten minutes if that.
