2004 Citroen Xsara Picasso scraping noise when ticking over

when engine is ticking over when cold can hear ascraping noise may be the belts not sure goes away when warm .
any ideas ?

can you pinpoint the noise when it is present,if it is the auxillary belt slipping you normally get a screeching noise,while the engine is running give the aux belt a spray with wd40 and see if this alters the noise,if it does then you need to replace belt and recommend changing the tensioner as well,check the pulleys by hand for smooth operation as could be a knackered pulley bearing
