2004 Citroen Xsara Picasso temperature gauge not reading

I had a new radiator fitted August 2010,I have recently noticed that I can travel 40 miles and the temperature gauge does not give a reading although when the ignition is turned on the lights all register before I start the engine then they go out.

hi there, does your heater work ok? if not then have you thought about changing the thermostat, that is usually the problem. hope this helps you out if not then sorry for wasting your time.

disconnect the engine thermostat (sensor) wire. the guage should read zero. short out the wire direct to earth. the guage should read max. if so you have a faulty sensor. if not you have a faulty wire.
