2002 Citroen Xsara Picasso de-mister will not turn off

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Year: 2002
Variant: 2.0 HDI
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
As soon as I turn on the ignition the de-mister turns on and will not turn off even when the air-con is switched to off on the control panel.
Nothing I do effects it.
Can anyone suggest a fix?

you should check the switch unit to see if it is faulty remove it from dash and make sure it is clicking off/on check for burnt wire on the back of the unit

Thanks for that will give it a go but it is an electronic button not a manual switch. Does this make a difference?
