2002 Citroen Xsara Picasso throttle sticking?

I think there may be two different problems.
1. When you take your foot off the accelerator the engine revs do not reduce until about 10 seconds later.
2. When the revs do die there is a real jolt to the car.

Try cleaning the throttle body .
