My car seems to revs high sometimes while driving like it is driving its self and sometimes revs really really high when stopped,
tried a new idle control value but that make the problem worst? many does this after about 20 minutes driving. Frightened to drive now. any ideas. garage not sure what it is

In order for me to make any sense of this I'd need to know more about the car,
Like is it petrol or diesel?,
and what's the engine size?
And what year?
Because from what you have submitted I'm just guessing!
And my guess is to run a reset procedure for the idle air valve/throttle values.
Which won't mean much to you but your garage ought to be able to do this.
Or if not find another garage.

You did post the year but not engine size and fuel type,
It does make a difference.
