I have recently had work done on my car after having a health diagnostic check on it and the mechanic who did other repairs to it said that there's a humming problem and he thinks it may be a gear box fault wouldn't the health diagnostic I had done at a citroen dealer have showed this ???

Only if it is an automatic,
then it is possible to read code and diagnostics.
But if it's a manual then there's no ECU or electronic sensors.
So manual gear boxes have to be diagnosed by an experienced mechanic.
Which ultimately mean strip down and inspection.
