2001 Citroen Xsara Picasso brake servo

I have an intermittent fault with my brake servo some times it just don't work to begin with then with a rev or two it starts to work ! It's a bit unnerving as one day is ok the next it's not :(
can anyone help ?

Check the hose to the pump is pulling a vacuum ,if it,s not then possibly your pump is faulty.
