2006 Citroen Xsara Picasso losing power going uphill & accelerating

Hi - hope someone can help. The engine fault light has come on and the car is losing power going uphill and sometimes when accelerating - any ideas, and if possible, help with hpow to do it????

Many possible causes , best to get it scanned .Could try changing fuel filter .

I had same problem on an older model, try changing ignition coil
