Primer pump staying on

2005 Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDi

Hi, I recently had a new gearbox fitted at a local garage. When they came to re-start the car they phoned to say the battery is dead and not holding it's charge even when they have tried to charge it up. They managed to get enough charge in it to get it back to me and so I fitted a new Battery. Subsequently the new one drained to and when taking it back to the garage they have told me the fuel pump primer is staying on and draining the battery. So two questions really. 1 - The garage confirmed they charged the battery while it was still attacvhed to the car and therefore could they have cooked the system? 2 - Does anyone know how I might resolve the problem without taking it back and having the whole ciruit board renewed?

Thanks, Jamie

Advise you take it back to the local garage and get them to fix the issue .If the fault did not exist prior to going into the garage then they are liable for the repair or at least some proportion of the repair cost .or you could get a auto electrician to check the fault and probable cause ,as I am not sure there diagnosis is correct.
