2004 Citroen Xsara Picasso car overheat

Do not fully understand your description,but if we just go with overheating then,check coolant level okay,check water is circulating ok,check cooling fan is cutting in.

What were the two faults ?Is the car losing water or overheating ?

Sorry -this is what happens when a woman who knows nothing about cars posts!.

The car was not losing water. The fault was intermittent, tended to happen when you drove long journeys, but not always. The engine stop sign would come on, but when you stopped the car, it would go back to cold again.

The garage said it was a thermostat and a sensor (I believe) the car is still at the garage. Replacing both of these has cured the engine overheat light.

The garage have explained it to me as like a kettle -it will bubble and bubble then flick of -my engine is not flicking of. They said when they open (whatever they open) it is spouting out hot water but no faults are showing.

Garage are stumped -help needed please!

It could be a head gasket issue test of cooling system for gasses should eliminate that,other thing,s is cooling fan is it operating,water pump is it okay ,the impeller has not come off, if your garage is stumped ,perhaps you should change your garage.

As above , another garage would be my suggestion after reading your last post .

Sounds like cooling system is pressurising , a block test will check head / gasket .
