Erratic rear wiper

Rear wiper comes on when unlocking car, also comes on when gear stick is put into reverse. Everything else works fine, including all switches. Did bsi/cpu reset sequence, no luck. Rear wiper stops anywhere on back window, but does work. Any ideas. 44k miles. 55-60mpg. Battery good.
History: had car since 22k, rear wiper motor packed in so removed it and did without fo about a year. Put it back in on chance and low and behold it worked, then went gagga after about three months - no obvious reason. ok to email me.

Check for broken wires where they pass through into tailgate.

hi, did examine wire and nothing obvious, the Picasso has a fairly well protected loom from tailgate. I've disconnected rear wiper motor - it just became annoying every time you clicked to open door rear wiper came on and when you put car in reverse the same. I've removed plastic junction box? at rear of motor, dissembled and cleaned connectors (got photo of this). Anyone else done this? Rear wiper motor and assembly look OK and as said they appear to work when switched on at stem.
Any ideas? Am I resetting the bsi/cpu wrong? This would explain the out of sequence events? e.g rear wiper linked to reverse switch and door locks. I know others have had similar problems so how did you fix it.
