Engine temperature

2003 Citroen Xsara Picasso
Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Year: 2003
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
Recently the engine temperature bar jumps up to the red marker and the dash beeps once and the drops down to 3 bars or zero bars on the temperature display. Today it shot up and stayed up for longer than normal so had to stop the car.

The water is topped up & the only work the car has had is the timing belt has been changed.

If they changed the water pump at the same time as cambelt, you may have an airlock in the system.
Is the engine actually over heating? and has it only happened since the cambelt change?
If so take it back to who ever did the work.

If the timing has been incorrectly set up when timing belt was replaced this can cause overheating .Common fault .
