2005 Citroen Xsara Picasso flat battery in cold weather. wont turn over the engine

Had car since new 30k on clock No problems until temp drops below freezing then battery just goes flat, and wont start. mec checked it over o/k. auto spark the same,unfortunately temp was up on both checks. new battery 3 months old heater plugs as well. I have had to replace the battery yearly past 3 years. got me beat.. Jim S.

Hi Jim, sounds more of an alternator problem. Get the mechanic to check the output with a meter.

Check for a parasitic drain .

Ref: above post.We had a Picasso a while ago and thinking about it, the boot light stuck on one winter and kept flattening the battery

I think we have found the problem,(fingers crossed)the Auto-Spark removed the radio charged the battery and checked for leaks,he found non, the car has started no problem the past week.The radio in question a sharp cd/radio with removable front was fitted by Halfords Straiton Park Midlothian and was taking a live feed even with the ignition off and the car locked up.The Spark told me he had other customers with the same problem all had radios fitted at Halfords around the same time.
