the car is starting for a few seconds and cutting out when i put the foot on the acclerater thiking no fuel getting to the engine

Has the fuel filter been replaced recently? could be blocked. When you first turn on the ignition do you hear the fuel pump run for a short time? it should do to prime the system. If not check the auto cutoff switch under the bonnet, fuel pump fuse etc.
