hi a couple of times when iv drove i cannot select any gear and the clutch is halfway down . it lets me select gears when engine is off but it wont when the engine is started , any idears what it could be ?

Seems that you have a problem with the clutch actuating mechanism.
If it is a hydraulic clutch, then the system needs bleeding.
If the clutch is cable operated, then try and adjust the cable...
