2001 Citroen Xsara Picasso front wash/wipe

Car: Citroen Xsara Picasso
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.8 16V
The front wash wipe facility has stopped working. I understand the sequence is controlled via the BSI unit. My Haines Workshop manual makes very little reference to this and I cannot find exactly where the unit is. I would appreciate any help.

Many thanks.

have you checked the fuses first are they ok,washer fuses seem to blow alot on these due to faulty washer motors

All fuses have been checked as a matter of course. As far as my Haines Manual is concerned there is no separate fuse for the washer pump. The pump motor was found to be full of water when removed from the washer fluid container as the shaft seal was worn. A new pump/motor has been fitted as a result but has not cured the problem. I have discovered that when you operate the wash/wipe switch and connect a meter across the male plug that supplies the motor a reading of +/- 12v appears, depending on which screen you select as the motor direction is reversed by the switchgear. The wipers then work as they should. Reconnect the plug and nothing works! I suspect that the BIS needs resetting.Does any one know how this is done? I have heard of software to use on a computer and/or a code reader/reset unit but am not sure about how these are used.
