2002 Citroen Xsara Picasso left indicator keeps flashing

the left indicator turns itself on and off.If i hold the indicator switch and gently push upwards it stops but as soon as i let go it starts.
After using it for a while it stops happening but randomly starts again.

sounds like the swich is bust and wont recenter fully. best to replace the unit.
