1997 Citroen Xantia cuts out

problem comes when engine is hot it fine from cold will run for 3 hours ok then the engine will cut out at constant speed or any where and will be a pain to restart the key pad will lock out and you just sit there then it will go for 15 mins then the same again but them problem is not constant

if the key pad is a pain put in code then pull out plug keypad will not be needed till you plug it in again.the first thing to try with all diesel cars is change the fuel filter.
