1995 Citroen Xantia cant get bonnet open. cable not working

Car: Citroen Xantia
Year: 1995
Variant: 2.0 HDI

bonnet release catch not working. ive pulled it with pliers but no joy. front grill off. just cant see how you get it open. please help

try getting someone to help , while you pull with the cable get them to push down and release on the bonnet , adjust catch when open
