Speed sensor

1999 Citroen Synergie 1.9TD
Car: Citroen Synergie
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.9TD
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The speed on my car when the engine is switched off says about 40mph.
Thus when the engine is running and driving you have to mentally take about 40mph off the speed being shown.
Disconnecting the battery it goes back to normal.
Then after a few days it plays up again.
I understand it is the speed sensor (on top of the gearbox) that has an issue.
Very simply.... Is it easy to replace, and how do you do it?
Thanks

I've checked the wiring ...in case of water ingression or bad connection...

The sensor can be purchased for £12:00 on ebay ... Just want to know how to replace it... anyone any ideas? Thanks

Never done one on that vehicle , on others that I have USUALLY just held on with bolt and pull out with gear drive .They also suffer from instrument cluster faults .
